Wet Dreams Don't Dry

While I'm hardly an expert on the subject of German comedy, the only funny thing I've seen coming out from the land of the organizational, rules loving beer drinkers is an old comic book character Nick Knatterton, a Sherlock Holmes parody on hyperdrive. Other than that, the comedies I've seen from them have never really opened to me.

So, the reason I started with a ramble on German comedy, is actually game related. And in fact, it is related to an old Sierra title, Leisure Suit Larry. See, a developer CarzyBunch is developing a new Leisure Suit Larry title, Wet Dream Don't Dry.

In, what I assume was a kickstart on guerilla marketing, the title was "leaked" to Steam early, before an official announcement, but now, the Steam page is showing a short promo video and a couple of screenshots.

Here's the feature description of the upcoming title, taken directly from their Steam page:

Leisure Suit Larry is coming in the 21st century – and no, there’s no word missing here• Explore a lovingly designed, non-linear game world set in the modern world with over 30 hand-drawn venues• Use “Timber”, the ingame app, along with an innovative dating mechanism to date women, consequently improve your score at Timber, and ultimately clear the way to get to Faith, the women of your dreams• Solve true-blue puzzles and interact with over 30 hand-drawn characters

Judging from the screenshots, the design of Larry has changed quite a bit. No longer is he a stumpy, balding guy, but a taller, lanky dude. I have no idea if he's rocking a bald spot though. The art style reminds me of Deponia games.

Here's hoping they have some solid writers, who can get over the cultural and lingual barriers and deliver something that isn't an embarrassment like those Silver Style Entertainments Simon the Sorcerer games.

Here's their official Steam page. It should be out this year.
